Chance to Dance 2019!

In celebration of NZ Dance Week, Northern Dance Network is pleased to present Chance to Dance 2019. A day of FREE CLASSES for all ages, and a Dance-o-Mat Showcase.

Saturday 27 April, Concert Chamber, Auckland Town Hall:             

  • 10am - Pacific Dance taught by Charlene Tedrow

  • 11am - Hip Hop Groove taught by Richie Cesan                        

  • 12pm - Dance-o-Mat Showcase – Out in Aotea Square / If wet in Concert Chamber

  • 12.35pm - Contemporary taught by Rebekkah Schoonbeek              

  • 1.35pm - Bollywood taught by Ella Kumar                      

  • 2.35pm - Latin taught by Sonia Hems

Come to the Concert Chamber to enrol 10 minutes before the start of class.  You can participate in as many classes as you like and no experience necessary!

Fortunately, the rain held off for the Auckland opening of NZ dance week held on Saturday 21 April at 2.00pm on the dance-o-mat in Aotea Square.
NDN in collaboration with DANZ and Auckland Live presented a one hour showcase. Performers included:

Ura Tabu Pacific Dance Company
Kyle and Mikey Te Whata from Notorious Dance Company
Trip The Light Dance Collective
Teresa and Kahu from Viva Dance Studio
Fidgit Dance Collective

Guest speakers:

Jack Gray-Atamira

The music and energy of the performers drew in a crowd of all ages with many children sitting around the edges of the stage enjoying the variety of dance styles on show.

Chance to Dance at NZ Dance Week


Chance to Dance was a very successful event held on Saturday 28 April as part of NZ Dance Week. More than 300 people enjoyed one or more of the six free classes that were offered, all at beginner level and suitable for all ages. The classes included:

  • Contemporary
  • Ballroom
  • Pacific
  • Hip Hop Groove
  • Musical Theatre

Seniors Dance - Classes are now Available in Three different locations


MONDAYS: 10 – 11 am at St Luke’s Church Hall, 704 New North Road, Mt Albert.     THURSDAYS: 10 – 11 am at St Aidan’s Church Hall, 5 Ascot Ave, Remuera.
FRIDAY: 10 – 11 am at New Lynn Scout Hall, 37 Margan Ave, New Lynn.
