Northern Dance Network, with the support of Creative New Zealand, was very pleased to hold Tūrama again. The 12-day choreographic intensive nurture the development the craft of the following emerging choreographers - Amber Liberte, Miriam Eskildsen. Katie Shaw, Oli Mathieson + Sharvon Mortimer (collaborative duo), Ray Santiago and Carla Harres.
Nine dancers were selected to participate - Tyler Carney, Ben Savesoi, Helena May, Wade Walker-Berben, Chas Le Mamea, Weichu Huang, Airu Matsuda, Zanthy Espiritu and Dana Moore-Mudgway.
The purpose of this programme is to help establish more sustainable careers for emerging choreographers by giving them time, opportunity, support (including financial) and mentoring to develop their craft. We believe that Tūrama is helping to do this and we wish all the artists well as they continue to develop.
Thanks Creative NZ for supporting emerging choreographers

Northern Dance Network is hopeful that the ASPiRE Senior Dance Showcase can take place on 1 October 2022. The 2021 show was a sell out two weeks before the show opened so we are moving to a bigger venue if funding comes through.
Watch this space for further information, and please reach out to [email protected] for any questions, or if you would like to join our Senior Dance classes and dust off your dance shoes to perform next year.
